At Cornerstone we desire for everyone to get into God’s Word— The Bible.

We have ongoing access to the best wisdom in the world, and yet many of us hurry through our days without clear direction. We tell ourselves we don’t have time, or the Bible is difficult to understand. Be encouraged that obedience often comes before wisdom and understanding. If we want to live our best life, then we must fill our minds with the Word of God.

Tips to help you get started:

  • Schedule a regular time and place.

  • Have a highlighter to mark the verses that stand out.

  • Journal as you read.   Try the SAP method…Scripture, Application, Prayer.

Scripture:  Read a passage from God’s Word each day.  Focus on and write down one key thought from that scripture in your journal.

Application: take time to reflect on how you can put what you have just read into practice.  What does this verse mean?  Write down some thoughts on how you can apply it to your life.  The most important thing is to ask yourself, “How will I be different today because of what I’ve just read?”

Prayer:  Write a prayer stemming from what you’ve just read.  Then pray it silently or out loud.
